President Gitanas Nausėda to vist Australia in October 2023

In October of this year, President Gitanas Nausėda, together with a business delegation, will come to Australia and visit Melbourne and Canberra. He will also meet with Governor General David Hurley and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. It is an historic visit and the second meeting between the leaders of the two countries in one year, with the aim of building a strong partnership with Australia.
The embassy in Australia is in its second year, but during this time we have built bilateral economic relations very quickly and almost from scratch. The results of this: on February 9 this year. The Australian trade and investment AUSTRADE headquarters, which is only the 10th representative office in Europe, was opened in Vilnius; the Australian-Lithuanian Business Council was initiated. It is expected to conclude the negotiations on the double taxation avoidance agreement and to sign the Free Trade Agreement negotiated by the EU this year. We are also planning to start negotiations on the signing of Social Security and Work and Holiday Agreements.
So I congratulate us on that – the shrinking, albeit large, distance between the countries and rapidly growing cooperation.
